We already know the risks associated with sun exposure, in particular the increased risk in developing skin cancer and early skin ageing.

A new study of young and middle aged adults, has shown that the use of daily sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher, protects against premature ageing, if applied regularly and daily.

In the study daily sunscreen users, followed up over a 4.5 year period, were 24% less likely to show signs of skin ageing , compared to people who just used sunscreen every now and again.

Researchers concluded that this is also likely to reduce the risk of skin cancer.

The SPF 15+ sunscreen should be applied regularly, at least every 2 hours and more frequently if doing activities that make you sweat, or when swimming.
