At the end of October and the beginning of November each year we bring infertility to the foreground. National Fertility Week raises awareness of infertility and conveys the issues faced by want-to-be parents here in the UK.
Around 60,000 fertility treatments are performed in UK clinics each year. On average one-quarter of those treatments are fully successful.
1 in 6 heterosexual couples in the UK are affected by infertility, and 25% of those cases go unexplained.
Couples can face issues such as –
- Ovulatory disorders
- Uterine or peritoneal disorders
- Tubal damage
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
As well as infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, mumps or HIV.
More recently we have seen an increase in same-sex couples seeking single women and surrogates for fertility treatment.
Known as IUI or Intrauterine Insemination. Same-sex couples, who have no medical issues that prevent pregnancy can have sperm inserted directly into a woman’s uterus during ovulation.
3 to 6 cycles of IUI can provide an 80% success rate, depending on a woman’s age.
After initial testing, we focus on each client’s individual needs. We plan all treatments to suit you.
Treatments include –
- IVF – In-Vitro Fertilisation
- ICSI – Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection
- IUI – Intrauterine Insemination
- FET – Frozen Embryo Transfer
- PGD – Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis
Further Testing/assessments include –
- Transvaginal Scan
- Fertility Pre-Screening/Ultrasound
- Hormone Tests
