Gonorrhoea is developing resistance to certain antibiotics

GONORRHOEA 

  • Gonorrhoea can infect the vagina, penis, rectum and or throat
  • Gonorrhoea spreads through contact with infected ejaculate/vaginal fluids
  • Untreated gonorrhoea can lead to serious complications in both men and women

GONORRHEA SYMPTOMS

  • Asymptomatic
  • White, yellow or thick green penile, vaginal discharge
  • Painful urination (Dysuria)
  • Inflammation, swelling of the testicles & prostate gland
  • Lower abdominal pain
  • Pain/itching or discharge from the anus
  • Throat infections are usually asymptomatic

 

GONORRHEA TESTING AND TREATMENT

  • Tests are accurate from 2 weeks post-contact
  • If you develop symptoms before that, you should see a doctor
  • Urine testing (men) and swabs (women)
  • The treatment guidelines for gonorrhoea have recently changed
  • It’s now treated by an antibiotic injection, which we can do on-site
  • We recommend partner notification and testing
  • We recommend abstaining from sex until you have done a test for cure 2 weeks after treatment
